Things are growing just fine...

Moving into the new house has wonderful, six months in,the place looks completely different, much better I say...Like a real home, its never done, there is always another project to take on,some easier, some harder...
My vegetables are starting to ripe, last night I enjoyed spicy salsa with a juicy tomato from the garden, actually from a container, tasted so yummy!!I have bell peppers and green beans all coming all between this week and the next. What a pleasure, our Urban Farm is coming true.I have so much mint growing,I think this week I might make tea for the whole family, sweeten it with whats left of the Stevia,Angel our goat doggie, discovered the heavenly sweet flavor of Stevia and has been munching on it,she is a real dog,but we thing she is a cross between a goat and a piggy somewhere in there, she eats everything and anything, she is the baby, everything needs to be Angel proof here,Shadow knows better than to eat chocolate,or onions or garlic, and the long list of toxic dog foods,he is our first dog, much like the older child he just knows better,Angel like the second child, just gets into everything, she is a blessing, and a reminder that even when you think you are safe, really you have no idea, lol!!
I thought gardening this year I would worry about the raccoons and bunnies, but nothing gets left for them,Angel digs up the compost before anyone else gets a chance.I have been juicing in the morning, and that helps having something left to decompose in the compost pile,Angel likes the the pieces, and juicing grinds everything to a fine mash she doesnt care much for,the worms are thanking me,I just know it,although I think they have been another reason Angel digs up the compost, she has eaten a bag full of crickets, all it took was a couple minutes on the table,so the Bearded dragons had to eat greens only that night...
I looked at the broken pieces of wood that were holding my sweet potatoes and sighted as the dogs managed to snap the pieces in half, rip the wire and of course prance and chomp the leaves,I really gotta hit the hardware store and create another layer of protection,I wonder when it will be safe enough, specially when she realizes its sweet potatoes underground, lol, she really loves sweet potatoes,so here I am,working out strategies for gardening with my veggie loving dogs...
I just might build them their own doggie garden...

Be sure to keep pets safe during the holidays.

Pets can sometimes pick through the trash left over like holiday meals and desserts, as well as after the indigestible items like gift wrapping paper, ribbons, tinsel, Poinsettia plants, etc.
Make sure you keep everything tightly put away, pet proof, just to be safe!!

Also de-icing chemicals used on roads and sidewalks can be irritating AND toxic if licked off the feet. After walks, wipe all four paws with a towel or damp cloth.

Don't forget to keep your pets warm and snuggly during cold weather!!Comfy bed, lots of blankies, layers of warm sounds purrrfect!!

Before walking your dog during the Summer...

Before taking your beloved pooch for a walk during Summer check the temperatures outside,it is usually too hot them!!If pavement outside is too hot for you to step out bare foot,it means it is too hot for your dog's paws too, they can burn and blister before you notice it.In order to keep your pup happy and healthy, take them for shorter walks early morning while is still cool, and late afternoon when is breezy and the heat has cooled down a bit.
Also, some lawns are treated containg fertilizers and chemical toxic to your pooch, treated grass can trigger a deadly reaction to a pooch who happens to be allergic to a particular chemical. Sometimes a innocent grass nibble can lead to an unimaginable situation.
Of course never forget to have plenty fresh water!!Enjoy your Summer!!

Getting Ready For The Summer: Peanut Butter Pops

Its getting pretty warm around here. My dogs love the occasional ice cubes they get to munch on, but to make things special now and then they get Peanut Butter Pops, which is a super easy, low cost homemade treat. If you feel like making a special treat for your pooch, this is it!!

So start by grabbing some Peanut Butter and Plain Yogurt. You can always grab at the store low fat peanut butter and low fat yogurt.

Whip up the melted peanut butter and yogurt, and pour it in ice cube trays, or small shallow containers, you can always break the pieces off, your pooch wont mind the looks but the taste!!

Now the twist ; If you know your dog likes bananas, apple sauce or carrots, you can add them to the Peanut Butter and Yogurt mix, just keep whipping until you have a creamy even mixture. The possibilities are endless, just use your imagination!!
